Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at CHPC

At Compassionate Healing Psychotherapy & Consultation (CHPC), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are foundational to how we provide care. We serve individuals, couples, and families across Illinois and Arizona through telehealth, with in-person services available in Chicago. Our trauma-specialty practice recognizes that mental health, identity, and lived experience are deeply interconnected.

We understand that trauma does not occur in isolation. Experiences of racism, discrimination, marginalization, religious harm, identity-based violence, and systemic inequity can profoundly shape emotional and relational well-being. We are committed to offering care that acknowledges these realities with compassion, humility, and clinical responsibility.

Our Commitment to Inclusive Care

At CHPC, we strive to create a therapeutic environment where every client feels:

  • Respected in their full identity

  • Heard without judgment

  • Supported in exploring culturally relevant experiences

  • Safe to discuss the impact of systemic harm

  • Empowered in their healing process

We are proudly anti-oppressive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and neurodiversity-affirming. We support clients from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We recognize that affirming care is not passive — it requires ongoing learning, reflection, and accountability.

Ethical & Professional Standards

Our commitment to equity and inclusion is grounded in professional ethical standards, including:

American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics
https://www.counseling.org/resources/aca-code-of-ethics

National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Code of Ethics
https://www.nbcc.org/ethics

These codes emphasize cultural competence, nondiscrimination, client dignity, and the responsibility to actively address bias in clinical practice.

Our clinicians are licensed and regulated by state boards, including:

Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
https://idfpr.illinois.gov

Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (BBHE)
https://bbhe.az.gov

These boards exist to protect the public and ensure ethical, competent, and culturally responsive practice.

Ongoing Growth & Accountability

We view DEI as a continuous process. Our clinicians engage in consultation, supervision, and ongoing professional development to strengthen cultural humility and address systemic impact in trauma work.

We welcome feedback and remain committed to growth. Healing begins with safety — and safety begins with being seen, respected, and valued.
