About Brandy Kirk

Hi there, and welcome!

I’m Brandy, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

Everyone walks a different path in life. If you’ve been carrying invisible wounds for a long time, you know that healing isn't about “just getting over it.” Real healing is about feeling safe enough to explore your story, finding the language for what’s been unspoken, and learning to build a life that feels worth living—for you.

Trauma has a way of reshaping how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how safe we feel in the world. My work is rooted in helping individuals navigate the lasting impacts of trauma and reconnect with their most authentic self. You deserve to be seen, heard, and supported—not just as a set of symptoms, but as a whole person.

Why I Do This Work

As a therapist in training and now in practice, I’ve worked closely with adolescents, teens, and adults facing complex trauma. Many have experienced abuse, neglect, domestic violence, sexual assault, or emotional harm that has left deep psychological imprints. These experiences often show up as difficulty trusting others, intense emotions, dissociation, self-harm, identity confusion, or suicidal thoughts.

Providing In-Person and Telehealth Services to Illinois and Indiana Residents!

Helping clients move through those dark places and begin to form a more compassionate, connected relationship with themselves has been some of the most rewarding work of my life.

I chose this focus not only because of my professional training, but because of my personal experience. I’ve walked through my own complex trauma—and my healing journey is what brought me to this path. While your story is uniquely your own, I understand what it feels like to sit in pain and uncertainty. And I know what it means to do the hard work of healing. You don’t have to do it alone.

What Makes Me Unique

Before earning my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University, I studied philosophy at Indiana University–Indianapolis. That curiosity about the human experience—our thoughts, emotions, and meaning-making—still shapes my work today.

I bring authenticity, humor, and creativity into the therapy room. While therapy can be heavy, not every session has to be. You’re invited to show up fully—as serious or silly, uncertain or curious—as you are.

A Little About Me

Outside of the therapy space, I believe deeply in balance and self-care. I recently relocated to Chicago from Indianapolis, and I’ve been enjoying exploring the city’s vibrant food scene (I’m a proud foodie!). I also find grounding in nature—whether I’m hiking, painting in the park, or simply soaking up the sun at the beach.

When I’m indoors, you’ll find me deep into a thriller or horror film, true crime documentaries, or hanging out with my two cats, my partner, and a good board game. Creativity and movement are key to how I care for myself—and I encourage you to explore what nourishes you, too.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed by your own thoughts, or wondering if things can truly change—I want you to know that healing is possible.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. I’ll meet you in the discomfort, sit with you in the silence, and walk with you through the darkest parts of your experience. There’s no pressure, no judgment—just a safe space to be you.

If you’re curious about working together, I invite you to reach out. Let’s see if we’re a good fit.

You are worthy of healing. And you don’t have to do it alone!
